
I was introduced to O!karto chips about a year ago, and I instantly wondered why my wife hid these great snacks from me all these years! If you have never tried this popular Korean potato and airy filled snack, then do yourself a favor and up your snack game. I can’t tell you how many times I have eaten a whole bag of O!karto’s in the span of 15 minutes. I know this blog is supposed to be about cooking, but it is also about all the great snacks that come from all the different Asian cultures. Plus part of being an Asian kid is eating snacks where you don’t know what the labels say.
The closest thing I can compare O!karto’s to is Veggie straws, if the Veggie straws tasted amazing. So if you happen to like Veggie straws, or if you just want different snacks for the pantry, then pick these up at your local Korean grocery. My choice is the Chili Chili flavor (the red bag). While I do enjoy a good Veggie straw, they are always just a bit too salty, a bit to airy, and don’t get quite as soft as I would like them to. O!karto’s are almost like the perfect veggie straw, they are just the right amount of saltiness, they are airier (is this a word?), and they melt quick. Trust me your kids will never go back to veggie straws after they have O!karto’s and I bet you won’t too.
